Things I Like #7 - SAPlanet

I can imagine lots of shrieks and cries of "oooh loook sooo cuuuute!" as you are looking at these adorable little amigurumi dolls. Amigurumi refers to the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting cute animals or objects. That's according to Wikipedia. No wonder we are all shrieking in delight at how sweet these dolls are!

These are the clever handiwork of Lis Chaong, the hands behind Simple Arts Planet or SAPlanet, and it's those same hands that bring life into these dolls. She designs all of these dolls, makes them and gives them names too, so people, say hi to (from top right and going clockwise) Dilian & Mayee, Forestie, Crawlie, and Ballie Peace. And each of them has their own characters too, for example, Forestie may be "attention seeking at times but can be pacified with a gentle touch", while Ballie Peace is "peace loving" and always "calm and loving". This is what I call lovingly handmade!

And what would you do with these cute dolls? Use them as key chains, bag charms, car charms, pets, whatever you can think of! And guess what, I think they make good gifts too! And I am sure the receipient of this gift, no matter gender or age, will smile when they open the gift.

And for those brave souls who say "I know how to crochet too, I wanna make myself one!" - good news, you can find the patterns to these dolls in SAPlanet too. Decide your level of competency and choose the doll pattern that fits your level and work your fingers away. For me, I prefer the easy way out - I'm already buried too deep in beads to find my crochet needles!

Here are some crochet patterns for you brave people to consider, and for those who prefer it made (like me), remember that you can find the actual dolls of these patterns in her shop too - all ready made, and you can even customise to your own colours too!
